I’m so excited to officially announce the release of “The Shopkeeper’s Bear” written by Janie DeVos and illustrated by Rebecca Evans (yours truly)! Hot off the presses with “The Shopkeeper’s Bear” I’ve already begun work on my newest book with  author Janie DeVos! I’m very excited about this one because I truly believe the message of this book is beautiful and I think it will be amazing when it’s finally finished. I don’t want to give away too many details YET… but I thought you all might like to meet my new little adorable hero…

The last few weeks I’ve been racing toward my deadline with Little Giggles Press for the illustrations for “The Shopkeepers Bear”. I just finished and wrapped them all up and sent them off to the Publisher. It’s been such a fun project to work on having her adorable little bear smile (or should I say big bear smile, since she’s not really that small!) staring up at me from the pages on my drawing board. And I’ve had such a good time working with her author Janie DeVos and Editor Pat McGrath Avery. But I’m excited to finally send her off for the next step in her journey and then in November finally get to see her in print! Just as a teaser I though you all might like to get a peek inside our newest book, but keep and eye on my blog because we’re just getting started on our next book which I’m SO excited to be illustrating!

Jasper is finally finished!

After three months of hard work on the children’s book “Jasper Finds a New Home” the illustrations are finally finished! Now comes the hair-raising part where I ship all the originals to the publisher and pray nothing happens to them along the way! I thought you might like to see a few more from the finished product to be printed this July by Folded Leaf Publishing.

 

 

 

 

 

Meet Jasper

My fairy tale illustration project was recently sidetracked as a result of a book contract that I recently received entitled “Jasper Finds a New Home”. Jasper is a warty little toad whose home is ruined during an oil spill. He and his new friends need to learn what oil is, seek help and find a new place to live. I thought I’d give you all a little sneak peek into my sketches for the book dummy and introduce you to Jasper and a few of his friends! (“Jasper Finds a New Home” is scheduled to be published Winter 2012 by Folded Leaves Publishing)

The Stars in the Sky

My search for a fairy tale to illustrate finally ended with a beautiful old English folk tale titled “The Stars in the Sky”. The tale is about a young girl who wanted nothing to play with but the stars in the sky, so one evening she goes seeking the stars. When she comes to a dam, she sees the stars shining in the water and attempts to catch one, but when they keep slipping through her fingers she travels on …

The tale continues but I wanted to share some of my initial sketches as the story and illustrations begin to take shape.
