Lisa Amstutz is the author of ~150 books for children and co-author of an adult book on the local foods movement. She has also written for a variety of magazines and newspapers. In 2021, she joined Storm Literary Agency as an associate literary agent.
A former outdoor educator, Lisa specializes in topics related to nature, sustainability, and agriculture and is passionate about sharing the wonders of nature with young readers. Her background includes a B.A. in Biology and an M.S. in Environmental Science/Ecology.
Lisa has been writing professionally since 2005. She also spent eight years as a freelance editor, working with individual authors as well as publishing companies. She served as Assistant Regional Advisor and in several other board positions for SCBWI: Ohio North and as a volunteer judge for Rate Your Story.
Recent books include Mammal Mania (Chicago Review Press, 2021), Plants Fight Back (Dawn Publications/Sourcebooks, 2020), Amazing Amphibians (Chicago Review Press, 2019), Finding a Dove for Gramps (Albert Whitman & Co., 2018), and Applesauce Day (Albert Whitman & Col, 2017).
When she’s not writing, you may find Lisa hiking, scrapbooking, or enjoying a cup of tea and a good book. She lives with her family on a small-scale farm in Ohio.
